When I was a kid, I used to go to hospital, on getting sick, with great excitement, in the hope of meeting Dr. Irfan of Dhoop Kinare. But as I grew up, I came to know the bitter reality, that it was all in the drama. Today, when I am writing about Sajid Hassan, the former memory, mentioned above, came into my mind. Dr. Irfan  became the identity of Sajid Hassan. And may be, many other people might have visited hospital after watching dhoop kinare.

Well jokes apart, Sajid Hassan is the most versatile and talented actor, blessed to Pakistan TV industry. He is indeed a blessing. Sajid Hassan has worked in more than 100 Tv plays  in Pakistan. But that is not all. He is a multi talented artist who knows to put life in every genre he has worked in. He has proved his acting skills in not only dramas , but also in stage play, theatre and films.

Sajid Hassan started his career from stage theatre. He, then switched to acting career and became famous. Sajid Hassan also appeared in movies as well. But , as I mentioned earlier, that is not all. Sajid Hassan has not only worked in Pakistan, but also in India and Hollywood.

Sajid Hasan did a number of dramas in Pakistan, like ‘Dhoop kinare’, ‘Sitara aur Mehrunisa’, ‘Taan Sen’, ‘Masuri’, ‘Nijaat’ and nowadays, ‘Dil Jali’ etc. He also did an Indian Drama ‘Tanha’, which went on air from Star Plus, in 1997.

Pakistani film and TV actor- Saleem Nasir

Salim Nasir

Salim Nasir was a famous Pakistani actor. He worked in both films and television dramas. He was born in Nagpur, India to an educated Syed Family. His real name was Syed Sher Khan. He was very versatile and he did justice to every role that was offered to him. He also published his own entertainment magazine which was known as TV Tempo. He was also honored with the award called the President’s Pride of Performance Award which is the highest acting award available to Pakistani actors.

He played the role of a servant in Aangan Tehra which is known to be his most remarkable performance. That performance was appreciated by all the people who watched the show and that performance established him as one of the greatest actors of his time. His greatest work includes drama serials such as Dastak, Nishan-e-Haider, Aakhri Chataan, Yanaseeb Clinic and Unkahi. In Dastak he played a role of a rigid lawyer, in Nishan-e-Haider he played the role of Captain Sarwar Shaheed, in Aakhri Chatan he played the role of Sultan Jalal ud Din Manguberdi, and in Yanaseeb Clinic he played the role of a director. He was also the guest in Anwar Maqsood’s  stage show, Silver  Jubilee, in 1983.

Saleem Nasir will be remembered for his great acting. He died in 1989 at the age of 45 due to a heart attack.

Ather started his career from writing for Radio, and wrote around 700 plays, among which ‘Jedi Kay Sang’ was his hit serial. He is well known for his satirical comedy. The satire in his poetry is the epitome of deep observation of society, time, life and people.

His comical character of Jedi, which brought him great fame and the love of people, was also highly acknowledged not only by the great actors of that time, like Talat Hussain, Subhani Bayounus etc. but also by social intellectuals. The innocence of the character of Jedi was a satire on our society.

Mr. Khayyam Sarhadi was a multitalented actor. He started his acting career from theatre, and this played a great role in polishing his artistic skills. Later on, he switched to Radio.

From Radio, he then switched his line to Drama genre. Some of his most popular dramas are: ‘Man Chale Ka Sauda’, ‘Waris’, ‘Anokha Ladla’, ‘Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan’ and ‘Sooraj Kay Saath Saath’. Sarhadi also worked in films like, ‘Daakoo’, ‘Hum Loag’, ‘Footpath’, and ‘Awaz’. But he did not continue for long in the film industry despite giving a few hit movies.  His work in ‘Man Chale Ka Sauda’ was highly appreciated. The play was written by Ashfaq Ahmed. The play brought great fame to him.

Khyyam Sarhadi was one of the best actors of Pakistani dramas. He was a very devoted actor. He died during the shoot of a drama, on February 3rd 2011, due to major cardiac arrest. He was 63 years old. Khyyam Sarhadi left behind two widows, TV actress Atiya Sharaf and Film actress Saiqa, and three daughters. The famous model and TV actress Zhalay Sarhadi is his niece. Khyyam Sarhadi is irreplaceable. He was very passionate about his work. He was not just a good actor, but also a great human being. His daughter, Zhaley Sarhadi has also started acting and she is known for a handful of her TV serial roles.

Popular TV actor from Pakistan, Jamshed Ansari knew his job well. Perfection was his biggest tool. His sweet smile and peculiar dialogue delivery were a source of pleasure to watch in classic dramas of 70’s and 80’s. Jamshed Ansari was indeed an unforgettable talent of Pakistan.

Jamshed Ansari was born in India on December 31, 1940. He was very young when he, along with his family migrated to Pakistan in 1948. Mr. Ansari did his Bachelors in Arts, in 1964 and then went to London for higher studies. There he did some TV production courses and Computer Engineering. Jamshed Ansari, while he was studying in London, also did stage shows and worked for BBC.

He started his career from Radio and then Theatre in Pakistan. ‘Hamid Mian Kay Haan’ was one of his very early radio plays that became popular among people for a very long time before going to London. When he came back from London in 1968, his first project was a TV play named ‘Jharokay’ which went very successful. Then Jamshed Ansari never looked back. One after another, many dramas went on adding more fame in his fate.  Jamshed did a great role in Agha Nasir’s written play ‘Ghora Ghaas Khata hai’. That play was appreciated a lot. One of his most memorable roles was of ‘Hasnaat Bhai’, in Uncle Urfi. One of his dialogues ‘Chakku hai meray pass’ became most famous.

Jamshed Ansari did numerous Radio programs and plays as well. He also appeared in three movies. His very first film was ‘Saughat’. He also did an Urdu film ‘Pakeeza’ and a Punjabi film ‘Aj Dian Kurian’. Jamshed was awarded by various awards. Jamshed Ansari left us on August 24, 2005. He died because of Brain tumor. He will always be missed.

Jamal Shah is a very creative person who has worked with all his heart to bring forth sector of performing arts. Jamal was born in 1956 in Baluchistan. Jamal Shah is an actor, director, painter and a social worker. He has a heart of gold and goes out of way to help people around him.

Jamal Shah has made great contributions to the media industry. He has played different characters in several different dramas. He later turned into a director to make dramas according to his taste. Jamal Shah with his efforts laid foundation to the fine arts department in Baluchistan University. Since the department was his brainchild, he was also appointed as its head. Jamal headed this department successfully for three years after which he passed it on to fellow colleagues.

Jamal Shah also created Artists Association in Pakistan. It was one of its kind  for the artists, it was founded in 1985 and benefited many artists around the country. Jamal Shah is one of the few artists in Pakistan who have achieved their education in the very same field.

Jamal Shah also laid foundation for Hunerkada – the stepping stone for many future artists. He polishes them with the greatest of teachers and the best of environment. Jamal Shah envisions Pakistan to be in the top country lists for performing arts. His contributions can never be forgotten. Jamal was made the Executive Director in PNCA (Pakistan National Council of Arts) in 2007. Jamal has won the hearts of many  people due to his generosity and the affection he has given to all his students.

Popular Comedian of Pakistan- Ismail Tara

Ismail Tara

Ismail Tara is one of the best comedy actors of Pakistani media. He is undeniably funny and unpredictable. Ismail Tara is no doubt the Comedy Guru of Pakistan’s comedy Genre. Comedy is undoubtedly the most difficult genre of media and he knows it very well.
To bring a smile on someone’s face is the most difficult task, and surely no one does it better than Ismail tara.

Ismail Tara became most popular for his versatile comical acting in the PTV’s famous comedy show ‘Fifty-Fifty’.  Ismail used to mimic western actors, like Larry King and Micheal Jackson and sometimes his skits were a pure satirical comedy on the social issues and current affairs of 80’s.

Ismail Tara also proved his mettle in the genres of theatre, film and drama. He is a man with very keen observation and that was clearly shown in his satirical skits in 50-50. This serial won a special award of Appreciation in 2005 also. Ismail Tara has also worked in a number of movies and was featured as a comedian in them. His famous movies include ‘Haathi Meray Saathi’ (1993), ‘Munda Bigra Jaye’ (1995) and ‘Chief Sahab’ (1996).
