Pride of Pakistan – Khawar Riaz

Khawar Riaz is another person who has contributed a lot to the fashion world. He is a stylist and a photographer who has introduced and groomed many models and actors. Khawar Riaz is truly a gifted stylist. If you glance at his work you will notice that he has transformed many duds to Adonis and many plain Jane to Helen of Troy. Khawar has a knack of picking boys and girls from an ordinary background and turning them into celebrities.

Khawar Riaz is a wizard with his camera as well. He tries to capture the image he creates from different angles. Khawar has opened “Ocular” the first ever registered modeling agency of Pakistan. Largely due to his hard work and creativity, models of his agency can be seen everywhere on billboards commercials and in print. Khawar is reputed to be a difficult person to work with but he is a genius nonetheless; a true makeup artist who brings the best out of you. Khawar has received many awards for his efforts but says that the satisfaction he gets from his work is more rewarding than any award. Khawar’s work is appreciated for not only his creativity but also for the fact that he is a trend setter in his field.

Pride of Pakistan – Mussarat Misbah

Mussarat Misbah is a famous beautician of Pakistan. She opened her first beauty salon Depilex in Karachi in the early 80s. At that time fashion industry in Pakistan was in its infancy, educated people were now venturing into the field. Mussarat was soon making inroads in the fashion industry as well as gaining popularity among the Karachites for her make up skills.

She had a degree from the UK but still took up different courses from abroad in make up and hair styling to improve herself. It is largely due to her dedication that Depilex soon became a well known beauty salon. Mussarat introduced many new techniques in makeup and hair styling. She was never afraid to do experiments and often her unusual make over were applauded by people. Mussarat and her team have several fashion shows to their credit. Depilex now has branches in major cities of Pakistan and UAE. Mussarat has opened a men’s salon as well.

Mussarat is a humble down to earth person. She was moved by the plight of the poor female acid burn victims and in collaboration with a team of French and Italian doctors has launched the “Smile Again Foundation”. although there are many other women working in this field, Misbah is loved for her creativity.

Pride of Pakistan – Farieha Altaf

Farieha Altaf entered the world of fashion as a model in the mid 80s. At that time modeling was considered a taboo and girls faced a lot of hostility. Farieha was not bothered with this attitude and continued with her modeling though most of it was in print. She made a name for herself in the fashion world. Farieha later started acting in TV plays as well. She is remembered for her roles in the long play “Rosy” in which she worked opposite Moin Akhtar. She also appeared in a TV serial penned by Haseena Moin. Farieha distanced herself from the fashion world after her marriage but not for long.

She re-entered the glamour world but now as the owner of a production house “Catwalk”. Through Catwalk, Farieha has introduced many new faces on the modeling scene. She has not only introduced models like Vaneeza Ahmed, Amir Zeb Khan, Sonia Khan and many others. Designers Nomi Ansari and others were also introduced by her. Freiha’s contributions to the fashion world are numerous; as a matter of fact, fashion became an industry in Pakistan because of the efforts of people like Farieha.

Farieha has also given a complete makeover to some leading sports and showbiz personalities like actor Shan. Farieha also directed and produced the Lux Style Awards in 2007.

Pride of Pakistan – Nabila

Nabila is an integral part of the fashion industry of Pakistan. She has been associated with the fashion world for the past 20 years or so. Nabila is a stylist, a beautician, an image consultant and a lot more. She loves experimenting and has won accolades for her innovative and at times bold themes in make overs. While others tread on safer shores, this lady has something new and exciting up her sleeve. She was the driving force behind the Lux Style Awards; the most prestigious awards of Pakistan. She is more powerful and charismatic then her models.

Nabila has salons in Karachi and Lahore and her clientele includes actresses, actors, singers, sports personalities and of course models. Her image consultancy has given a new look to many leading personalities of Pakistan like Barbra Sharif, Ali Zafar, Hadiqa Kiyani and even sportsmen like Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar..

Pride of Pakistan – Emmad Irfani

Emmad Irfani is a stylish male model from Pakistan. On a family member’s insistence, Emmad submitted his portfolio to the fashion photographer duo Ather and Shehzad. Emmad exceptional looks were noticed by the famous fashion designer Hassan Sheharyar Yaseen (HSY). Emmad modeled for HSY on the ramp and in the print. Looks, talent and a big break opened the doors for Emmad and he was soon seen modeling for leading designers and big labels in Pakistan.

Even lady luck favors a hunk maybe that’s why he got a chance to work with International fashion houses like Dior, Versace, DKNY, Levis and Prada when he was modeling for Nilofar Shahid in the Paris Couture Week. Emmad has also done shows for Armani in London, Milan and Pakistan. Emmad has also done TV commercials.
Emmad bagged the Best Male Model Award at the Lux Style Awards in 2005 and the MTV Most Stylish Personality Award.

Pride of Pakistan – Imran Abbas

Imran Abbas is one of the few male models whose very first shoot captured everyone’s attention. His magnetic personality, great looks and the fact that his first shoot was with Khawar Riaz gave him a big head start. Khawar Riaz is known for grooming and introducing many new faces in the fashion industry.

Imran Abbas became popular in no time at all and his face was all over the town; if not on the TV screen then on glossy fashion magazines or on the ramp. Imran then switched over to acting and here too he proved that he was much more than a handsome face. Well known directors cast him in serials penned by famous writers. Imran’s acting skills, expressions and dialogue delivery were appreciated by the TV audience and soon Imran joined the ranks of successful actors. He has also acted in Indian dramas.

Among his TV serials, many big projects are in the pipeline some of which are joint ventures with India. Imran intends to bid farewell to the world of glitz and glamour and intends to work as an architect. We wish him all the best in life. Although he has other plans, he is loved by the young and old. Pride of Pakistan – Amir Zeb Khan

Amir Zeb Khan is currently the most successful and sought after male model of Pakistan. His family hails from Buner a town in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan but is settled in Karachi. From his conservative home town, he has taken a huge leap and is considered as one of the best male models in Pakistan.

Amir Zeb’s story is somewhat similar to the other models. His entry into this glamorous world was by chance. He was introduced to Farieha Altaf, a lady with a considerable influence in the fashion world. She runs a modeling agency and is an event organizer. Amir Zeb did some fashion shows with Farieha. After a break of two years in which he completed his MBA, Amir Zeb was coaxed to make a comeback in the fashion industry by Khawar Riaz a stylist/ photographer from Lahore. From then onwards Amir Zeb’s modeling career sky rocketed and he became a very busy model. Amir Zeb is at present the highest paid ramp male model. Amir Zeb won the prestigious Lux Style Award for the best male model in 2008.

Amir Zeb treats fashion modeling as a hobby and confesses doing it for money and recognition. He works as a Coordination Executive in the PSO.

Pride of Pakistan – Abdullah Ejaz

Abdullah Ejaz is rated as the “hottest male model”. Blessed with good looks and a perfect physique for a model, Abdullah who always aspired to be a model started his career with small assignments. He was not lucky like his peers and had to wait for some time before he could make an impression in the fashion industry. Later his looks and talents as a model were noticed by some big wigs of the fashion industry like Mehdi, HSY and Karma; Abdullah was now on the road of success. Chen One a big fashion house also signed him as their model.

Abdullah has been more successful in print. He knows how to pose in front of cameras and has a certain charisma and the right attitude to make people notice him. Abdullah is also a successful ramp model and looks comfortable in both western and eastern attire. He won the Best Male Model Award in the 5th Sony Ericsson LUX Style Awards, September 2006.

Pride of Pakistan – Mikaal Zulfiqar

Mikaal Zulfiqar is a Pakistani model who emerged on the fashion scene in 2000. It has been almost 10 years and he has planted his feet firmly not only as a model but also as an actor. He is a very talented individual who has shown by now to the fans and critics alike that he is here to stay.

Mikaal has also acted in a couple of music videos. This multi talented man is a superb model in print and on the ramp as well. Like his peers, he is well versed in the art of modeling and has worked with several fashion designers.

As per the current trend among models, Mikaal also made a successful transition towards acting. Mikaal not only acted in TV dramas along with some leading actors and actresses but also acted in few movies. His serial Saiqa aired on Hum TV was a big hit. To date he has acted in three movies; two Pakistani and one Indian. In the Indian movie “Shoot on Sight”, he acted with senior actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Om Puri.

Mikaal is popular among the masses because of the hilarious Ufone TV commercials and is often called Ufone wala. Mikaal recently tied the knot with Sara Bhatti.

Pride of Pakistan – Nadia Hussain

Nadia Hussain is a stylish and highly successful model of Pakistan. Although modeling assignments keep her busy, she regards modeling as her second profession; Nadia is actually a dentist by profession.

Nadia is not camera shy the reason being that she was exposed to media at a very early age. She did a toothpaste commercial as a child and also a video for her maternal aunt’s song. Tina Sani the famous singer is her aunt. Luck and hard work are two factors behind her success; an enviable height (5 ft 10 inch) and gorgeous looks being the other ones.

All the top designers love to work with Nadia because of her professionalism. Nadia has also acted in TV plays and hosted talk shows. She is an icon in her own field.

Married with two kids, she manages her house and two careers beautifully. But she confesses that she could not have done so without her husband and her family’s help. Nadia is elegance personified. She has done fashion shows in Pakistan and abroad as well. She walks gracefully on the ramp and looks stunning in print too. Nadia has also done TV commercials. Al Karam a leading textile company of Pakistan chose her as the brand ambassador.
