Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan came from very popular classical music Patiala Gharana. Despite the strong roots and inclination of members towards classical singing, Shafqat chose pop singing as his major genre. He is majorly recognized as the lead singer in the former band Fuzon. Shafqat is Ustad Amanat Ali Khan’s son who is probably among the best ghazal and classical singers from South Asia.

Shafqat Amanat Ali was born in 1956 on 26th February in the city Lahore. He is the son of well renowned late Ustaad Amanat Ali. Shafqat did his bachelors degree from the GC University in Lahore. He also had the privilege of being on roll of honor. Like all other members of the Patiala Gharana, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan too started practicing and learning classical chords at a very early age of 4. His first classical teacher was his grandmother with whom he was very close. Shafqat’s style of singing is majorly influenced by Baray Fateh Ali and his father, Amanat Ali Khan.

Shafqat entered the music industry with a big bang with his band “Fuzon”. His first major hit was the song “Aankhon k Saagar” after which there were several songs that hit the charts like “Akhiyan” and “Mitwa”. Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan left the band after a few years and started his solo songs in the same year; 2006. Shafqat Amanat Ali was lucky to get a break in Bollywood soon after he started his career. Shankar Mahadevan introduced Shafqat to India.

Soon after his first song “Mitwa” for the Indian cinema that was included in the movie Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna He became a popular singer throughout the subcontinent. His song “Kheriyan de naal” is loved for its unique blend of western music and eastern lyrics.
