I met Jamal Shah at an event in NCA in architecture department. He was there to guide the students. He was a very pleasant person to meet and very friendly in nature. One can feel this calm attitude of him towards anyone talking to him.
Mehak Ali is a great Pakistani actress, model and singer of Pakistani media. She was born on June 27, 1993. Mehak has an indeed a glamorous and elegant personality.
She started her career in performing arts and did several plays. She remained unknown as an actor in the early period of her acting career. Apart from doing a great successful Pakistani movie Khuda Kay Liye, in 2007, most popular drama serial Humsafar, has brought him massive fame in a very short time lately.
The short haired handsome guy, Fawad Afzal Khan, with looks to die for, was born on 29 November 1981. He is a Pakistani Singer (Band EP Entity Paradigm), model and now a very good actor also. The famous Pakistani director Shehzad Anjum saw Fawad in his high school play, which was his first public appearance. Shehzad Anjum helped Fawad to get into media planet. Fawad started his TV career, officially, by doing a Spy role in a sitcom Jutt and Bond. He did this play with his co-star and friend Ahmed Ali Butt, with whom he established his rock musical band EP (Entity Paradigm) .Fawad, was the lead singer of this band. In 2007, EP broke up, but in 2010, it got reunited and they sung their new song Bolo Bolo in a Musical TV series Coke Studio.
Fawad also worked as a model. He did many advertisements of various popular brands. He also did ramp walk modeling, showcasing glamorous wardrobes of famous dress designers like Amar Belal, Muneeb Nawaz etc. to name a few.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the nephew of the greatest singer of the millennium, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Rahat has achieved in a short span what took his uncle years to achieve; international recognition. Rahat was a part of Nusrat’s troupe which accompanied him on concert tours. His first solo performance came at the age of 11 years when he was touring Britain with his uncle.

Alamgir’s success story looks more like a plot of a novel. Alamgir was born in 1954 in East Pakistan. He received his early education there and at the age of 15, moved to Karachi; a city full of promises. Alamgir only brought with him two things; a guitar and a rich voice.
Alamgir began his career by playing guitar at Café D Khan situated at Tariq Road. This café was also a meeting place of intellectuals and people from TV. Someone in the crowd impressed by his talent asked him to audition for a youth program. Although Alamgir was not selected for that program, but he got noticed by Sohail Rana a famous music composer who asked him to sing for a children’s program. This set the ball rolling for an illustrious career.
As a pop singer, Alamgir emerged on the music scene in 1973/74 when he sang “Albeela Rahi” a translation of a foreign song. This one song took him to stardom and soon people especially youngsters were raving about his innocent looks and good voice. Alamgir sang many songs including ghazals; his voice suited every mood and he was at ease with every kind of song. Alamgir also did some playback singing. His songs for the film “Aaina” were a super duper hit.
Alamgir currently resides in America with his family. This singer who brought joy to many is suffering from renal problems. He has to undergo dialysis thrice a week. Always a winner, Alamgir is putting a brave front.
Arthur Nayyar, popularly known as A. Nayyar is a renowned singer of Pakistan. Nayyar had a melodious voice and singing in the church choir improved it. A. Nayyar has sung many successful songs.
A. Nayyar’s career started in 1974 when he recorded a duet with Rubina Badar for the film Bahisht. Nayyar’s mellifluous voice could soon be heard everywhere. He faced tough competition but at that time Pakistan’s film industry was at its peak and there was place for everyone. After Ahmed Rushdi’s untimely death, Nayyar stepped forward to fill the void. Nayyar also performed on TV and radio; in fact some of his TV songs were so popular that they were included later in films. Nayyar got a chance to work with every famous music director and gave one hit song after the other. His romantic duets with Naheed Akhtar and Mehnaz were very popular with people and his solos were well liked too. His voice had depth and versatility and could express different emotions with ease.
Mehdi Hassan and Ahmed Rushdi are two great singers who according to A. Nayyar, helped him in his career. Ahmed Rushdi taught him screen playback while Mehdi Hassan helped him improve his voice quality.
A. Nayyar has Won 7 Nigar Awards, 8 Graduate Awards and 4 Bolan Awards. Samina Peerzada’s Inteha was the last movie for which A. Nayyar sang.
Ghulam Ali is another prolific ghazal singer from Pakistan. Ghulam Ali was born in Sialkot in 1940. He received the early training of classical music from his father who was also a singer and a sarangi player. At the age of 15, Ghulam Ali became a student of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan; the leading name in classical music. However Ghulam Ali was instructed by the brothers of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Mubarak Ali, Barkat Ali Khan and Aamanat Ali Khan who familiarized him with the finer points of classical music. Ghulam Ali’s career began in 1960 from Radio Pakistan.
Another person to influence Ghulam Ali and to make his singing style unparalleled was the poet Sufi Sahib. Sufi Sahib taught him the aesthetics of poetry and also taught him how to deliver the words without compromising the beauty of the poem.
Ghulam Ali blends various raags when composing his ghazals. His distinct style of singing along with his unique compositions has made his ghazals immortal.
Ghulam Ali is equally popular in India and his ghazal “chupke chupke raat din” was included in a film. Ghulam Ali has sung Punjabi songs as well and has also sung ghazals in Nepali language. Ghulam Ali has more than 50 cassettes to his credit and many leading recording companies have released his albums. Ghulam Ali mostly sings at live concerts all over the world.
Mehdi Hassan the legendary ghazal singer is the pride of Pakistan. Mehdi Hassan was born in Luna Rajasthan, India in 1927. He belonged to a family with rich musical roots, the Kalawant clan of musicians. Both his father and paternal uncle were dhrupad singers. Mehdi Hassan’s family migrated to Pakistan after partition.
Life was not easy and for some time Mehdi Hassan had to work as an auto mechanic to support his family. Mehdi Hassan got his first break on Radio Pakistan Karachi in 1952. Slowly he made a name for himself and in 1962 fame finally came to him when his ghazal “Gullon mein rung bharay” became immensely popular. From then onwards there was no turning back for the maestro; he was to rule the music industry for decades to come.
Mehdi Hassan was passionate about music and poetry. His command over the various raags and his deep understanding of the poetry made his ghazals so outstanding. He added a new dimension in ghazal singing. He composed the ghazal in the raag which best suited the mood of the ghazal. Even today no singer in the sub continent can match his low notes. Mehdi Hassan was the main playback singer from the 60s to the 80s. He also performed on television and in private functions. Mehdi Hassan has won a great number of awards both nationally and internationally. Lata Mangeshkar the iconic Indian singer paying glowing tributes to the Shahenshah-e- Ghazal Mehdi Hassan compared his voice to that of Bhagwan (God).
Mehdi Hassan’s popularity can be judged from this anecdote. While singing in the court of King Birendra of Nepal, Mehdi Hassan forgot a line of his song, “Zindagi mein to sub he piyar kiya karte hain”; the King got up and sang the line; a great honor for the singer indeed.
Failing health made him give up singing but Mehdi Hassan has carved a name for himself which will not be erased by time or tide.
