This is one of the most beautiful lakes around Swat (the mini Switzerland of Pakistan). It is located at a distance of about 40 km from Kalam which is in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at 2,000 above sea level. It  is also just a few kilometers away from the Ushu Valley which is on the upper northern area of Pakistan. From this beautiful lake one can trek towards North East and find the Ushu Valley which  is famous for its captivating views of the highest mountain in Swat Valley named as Falak Sair having an height  about 6,257 meters. Or one can explore the North West area of Gabral Valley. Many activities like hiking and fishing can be done there.

This is also close to the two great lakes – Saifullah and Naseerullah. It is a nice destination for fishing and is accessible on a four wheel drive due to steep route and those visiting it call it a lifetime experience. The lake is surrounded by mighty peaks, beautiful Pine trees and flowers. The road to the Mahodand lake is also very beautiful as it is covered with thick trees shadowing all the way. Fishing is very common in this area as the water is full of them. The natural beauty is not much damaged and it looks like a fairyland.
